She also does some super cute drawings based on the lives of these little fairies and has offered to give away three of her prints to you guys.

Here are just a couple of the prints you can chose from:

or you can chose one of her silhouette drawings like this:

I'm going to be getting a couple of these for myself :)

weekend warriors

This weekend went way too fast.  I need to get started on the duvet cover and have about 1000 billion other ideas that I wish I just had time to DO. Seems like these little babies that expect me to wait on them hand and foot are getting in the way of me gettin' down with my crafty self. Shouldn't they be able to change their own diaper by now? No? Oh. Ok.

Well, this week I'm participating in Scavenger Hunt Sunday over at Ashley's blog. I haven't done it yet mainly because I'm running around like a crazy chicken on weekends. This weekend I was, but made sure to take some pictures before and during the boys' naps today. You can link up and find other interpretations of the prompts :)

1. Capture the sky.
Well, this is pretty much what the sky in so cal looks like all the time. Except for last week.

2. Everyday
This is pretty much me, everyday. I wear these leggings all the time. I'm also submitting this photo for Steppin' Out Saturday, which was actually Steppin' Out Friday for me and the dudes. I never usually participate in that either because well, although I do have style, I don't usually pay much attention to what I'm wearing when I step out. This photo pretty much sums up what I wear out ALL the time. And Isaiah had pants on after this, I swear.

What I'm wearing:
Scarf: Target
Zip up: Target probably, but I don't remember
Tank: H & M
Leggings: Gap...they're actually maternity but they're so comfy and loose I love them.
Boots: Cathy Jean (60% off bitchesssss)
Purse hanging up: Target

Shirt: Target clearance. It has a robot on it. And It's actually pj's I think.
Fro: Mama and Dada

3. Furry
At our house, Cookie Monster is king.

4. Life
I haven't been able to find these guys forever. I set them up for ONE picture and Julian crawled over and slapped his hand down on poor Luigi...who is seen mid-flip flying in the background all action movie-like. This was the one and only shot I took because it was too hilarious to keep going.

5. Blurred
Seriously are these my babies? When did they get so huge? Isaiah looks so long all stretched out. They like to kick each other and play footsie when they drink bottles.

How about some votes for my killer style? No? Ok then, vote for Luigi. He deserves it.

life lately

Right now it's 9 am on Saturday morning and the boys have already been napping for like a half hour. They were up before 6am. I'm watching a documentary on pro wrestling and it's actually very interesting. Netflix it up people. And prepare for lots of scrappy facial hair, denim and gold chains.

Cloth diapering day 1 went great. Except for last night they both peed through 2 prefolds. The Thirsties cover didn't leak but the prefolds were so soaked and they sleep on their tummies so their front was wet. We'll try the BumGenius tonight with the extra insert to see if that works. I think they woke up so early because of the wetness.

And as you can see here, Isaiah's prefold got a little saggy last night lol.

I made these brownies this week:

The batter was like one big grainy chunk so I added some extra water. They turned out really good but were best eaten with a fork and a big glass of milk :)

Julian is such a little lover.

And our new favorite hobby is pushing the desk chair around the kitchen.

And someone also learned how to unroll the toilet paper...

his name is Isaiah. And his shirt says it all...

But how can I be mad at that face??

Last night I managed to get a picture of the boys rocking some super awesome baby 'fros.

Have a happy Saturday y'all! We'll be enjoying INDOORS because it's freezing and raining here in So Cal. Boo.

growing up to be good men

Dear Boys,

Here are some little tips of advice I want you to learn and that I think will help turn you into good men:
  • Take the shopping cart back to the corral, don't just lazily leave it in the parking lot.
  • Hold the door open for people, even if you have to wait.
  • Put your toothbrush away. There are so many germs stirred up when you flush the toilet or start running water, the safest place is in the medicine cupboard.
  • Put the seat down. And don't pee all over the place.
  • Do things right the first time. When you're picking up a room, don't just move everything to a different place. Put everything where it belongs and you only have to move it once!
  • Say please and thank you to everyone. (I even say it to the people who make my sandwiches at Subway.)
  • Take your shoes off when you walk into someone's house. It's just the polite thing to do.
  • You rest much easier in a uncluttered and clean bedroom.
  • Always use your blinker even when nobody is around, just to get into the habit of it.
  • Most times, the generic brand is just as good as the name brand.
  • Don't propose on a major holiday or her birthday.
  • Cleaning up after yourself a little every day is the easiest way to prevent things from getting out of control.
  • But sometimes the cleaning can wait :)
  • Wash your hands after you go to the bathroom. I shouldn't even have to say that one.
  • Treat everyone with respect, even if you don't like them or they haven't been particularly nice to you.
  • It doesn't cost anything to show someone how much you love them. Sometimes the little things are most meaningful
  • If there is a woman or woman with children or an old person somewhere where there aren't many seats, offer your seat to them even if they say no, you need to offer.
  • Even if you're someone's guest you can still offer to help with dishes.
  • You're never too old to hug your mama and tell her you love her, even when your friends are watching.
Love, Mama

you only live once

With all the recent searching I've made with regards to family geneolgoy it got me wondering once again, about my biological father. I've mentioned before that I was adopted by my dad (Andy) around the time my parents got married when I was 3. When I was in junior high I finally started to question what that meant and realized that because I was adopted, he wasn't my biological dad.

I've never had any problems with this, I love my dad so much. But once I figured everything out I've always wondered in the back of my head where this person was, if he knew I existed, if there were other half siblings I may have, if I look like him, etc. I mean, I do look a lot like my mom, but there are many qualities that I have that I don't see in anyone else. I don't look a lot like my brothers and sister or any other family members on my mom's side.

I've tried searching for my biological father a few times before but didn't come up with anything, until this weekend and a late night Google search. I found a picture. And my best friend and I did some comparisons of this picture and my baby pictures and there are some very crazy resemblances. My heart was in my throat. I was shaking. Just the prospect that this was the person was very overwhelming. I've never really seen anyone I look like (besides my mom) who had a lot of the same qualities as me.

My mom has always been very open about the situation and I talked to her before I decided what I was going to do. She wasn't able to confirm his identity through the photo because obviously it's been a long time. But all the other details seemed to match up. So I've let it stew for the past few days deciding what I would do and then decided I couldn't NOT contact him. I'd regret it in the future. I have kids now and I owe it to myself and to them to at least try to find these things out.

So, today I sent him an email. Hands shaking, armpits sweating, I typed a short email and clicked send before I lost the guts to do it. Is this the right person? I hope so. I want to have this piece of the puzzle solved. What do I expect out of all of this? A confirmation at the very least. But this could all go a million ways, I'm really prepared for anything....good, bad, or inconclusive.

Send out some positive vibes for me today if you can, so I can get the answers I've been searching for.

playground fun

I'm slowly getting things ready for the boy's birthday. I'm not going full out-crazy but will be making a couple things so I'm trying to get it all  put together now so I don't have to worry about it next week. We got a call from Chikezie's mom last night telling us she was going to come next weekend for their birthday-and will be here in time for their party on Saturday! I know she's really excited so I'm glad she'll be able to make it. My mom will be jealous she can't come though!

We walked to Target to pick up some pictures I had printed and stopped at the pet store on the way. We haven't been in there before with the boys because it's always packed and I've never been sure the stroller could fit through the isles. The mall was dead today so we went in. A girl held a little puppy out for the boys to see....Julian wouldn't stop giggling. Isaiah was too busy staring at the girl to even notice the puppy licking his hands. Sorry pal, she's a little too old for you.

On our way home we stopped at the playground at our apartment complex. For some reason, I don't know why, we haven't been down there yet. I guess I'm always on my way somewhere else when we're by the playground and there are usually tons of kids running all over. Plus I didn't know how much fun they'd have because they can't really walk around.

I held them and slid them down the slide a couple times and they smiled. And then my arms got tired lol. 2 times each of 23 lb boys is enough. Julian enjoyed pounding on the slide.

Isaiah was just zooming around everywhere. We really need some good shoes. I checked the top of his feet after a few minutes and they were getting kind of irritated from dragging on the ground.

Julian contemplating the meaning of life.

This was after about 4 times of telling Isaiah to stop licking this thing...

Sooo even though they can't walk yet they still had a great time exploring and just looking at everything outside. I honestly don't think they're going to be walking for another few months. We don't have any standing or steps yet and I haven't seen much interest. But they were perfectly content crawling all over and I don't think the surface bothered them too much. I think we'll be going down there more often-just need to find some shoes first.

what it's all about (video)

Last night the boys got their first birthday cards in the mail from their Great Grandma and Grandpa Uhl. I gave them each their own card and they just threw them. And then tried to eat them. So while we were waiting for Daddy to watch us open the cards, I started fanning Isaiah with one card and he lost it.....I have never heard him laugh this hard EVER. It was the laughter that is so hard there is no sound and he had to catch his breath afterward. And Julian was just laughing because Isaiah was and wanted to be in on the fun time, but I don't think he really thought it was as funny. When I played this video on Chikezie's iphone this morning though, Julian was the one giggling :)

So, they may not have gotten the intended purpose of the card but had so much fun with something as simple as a piece of paper and a little wind. :)

This is what life is all about, people.

my own space

I bought these fabrics this weekend that will become our future duvet cover.

I was in the quilting fabric section of Joann's and was starting to get overwhelmed. I haven't taken on any big projects like this because I can't commit to one pattern or color. I'm so indecisive with this stuff which is why I've only taken to making little things. I saw a little old lady wandering through the section and asked her for some advice because she looked like she knew what she was doing. I'd already decided I was going to use the yellow, blue and mixed pattern but didn't know how many other colors I was supposed to use, etc. She walked right to the brown polka dotted fabric. What a pro.

I'm going to use my old duvet cover, that has a stain on it (from petroleum jelly during a late night diaper change when the boys were born LOL). I'm to use the current duvet for a guide and once I get all the squares sewn together I'll sew them to the front of the cover. It's a basic beige color so the back will match fine. I'm also going to add some snaps to the opening so it stays shut.

And, these fabrics are sitting on my new CRAFT TABLE! Chikezie got it to replace our giant desk but the 4 legs weren't as sturdy as we would have liked, but will work great for a table for me :) I'm SOOO excited to have my own space and not have everything shoved in random places. Chikezie says I can stain it because it's just basic lumber but I think I'm going to leave it. I can use pencil to make guides on the table. Or doodles. And if I get tired of it I can just paint over.

To complete my "craft area" I got our computer screen/tv thing out of the closet and went to Target (again) and got a cheapo DVD player so I have some noise and can watch stuff while I craft.

And I stopped by the Home Consignment Store on Sunday to find a chair for my desk and ended up finding this old windowpane mirror...I seriously LOVE it. It's so heavy though, anybody know the best way to hang something heavy like this?

brotherly love

Here's Isaiah all cute, curls shimmering in the sun...

But he's not so innocent.

Julian is teething.

But can still crack a handsome grin.

They look innocent enough...

Except Isaiah won't stop bothering his teething brother today.

Luckily Julian has been a pretty good sport.

Sometimes Isaiah gives him a 1 foot window of space and then makes a cute face so we all think he couldn't possibly bother his big brother.

But the kid is starting to press his luck.

So when things get too rough Julian stays close to mama.
Whoa the coloring on this picture make my feet look really nasty.

But then Isaiah finds him and starts bothering him some more.

So mama made sure to give Julian some extra loves and kisses today.

And that made everything all better.
