Pics Pics Pics!

We're still enjoying some family time in Cedar Rapids with Chikezie's family. Chikezie leaves to fly back to Cali tomorrow and I will be heading to my hometown to spend the next week with my side of the family. We've had a great week here and it'll be sad to leave everyone. But I'm also excited to see my family as well so tomorrow will be a little bittersweet. I'll also be kind of sad the dudes and I won't be seeing Daddy for 10 days!

As we aren't doing much new right now, I'll entertain you all with more pictures from our past couple days. (Sorry, we're not doing much but hanging out!)

The twins with the twins!

Omg those sweet little lips. *swoon*

I love this picture (taken by Chikezie's sister). Isaiah and Uncle Chic playing.

The boys just chillaxin' when we got to Uncle Chic's house lol. They look so relaxed!

The dudes loved the lights on Uncle Chic's Christmas tree. Maybe because his tree looked a lot like ours.

Boys playing.

Two boys with their pacies :)

Isaiah helping grandma do dishes.

Isaiah enjoying a ride up high on Uncle Chic.

 Loves his uncle.

Stare down of the Hamiltons. (We gave Isaiah the middle name Hamilton after Chic, both are the younger boy in the set of twins, both have the same middle name. I LOVE it.)

Sorry these posts might be so boring but I'm just eating up all this family time!

busy in Iowa

Sorry I haven't been posting as often. I'm really trying to soak up as much time with family as I can right now. This is our first trip home in almost a year and a half and first trip home with the boys. We've spent the week with Chikezie's parents and two sisters. His twin brother just got into town today so we're SO excited to spend time with him for the next couple days as well.

We also got the chance on Tuesday to see my Iowa City family; Aunt Molly, Uncle Kevin and two cousins, Alex and Breanna. Here are some pictures from our visit there. I loooove visiting them (they're so hip and cool) and we had the best time chatting, ordering local pizza and catching up.

Julian and Great Aunt Molly. Um, she does NOT look old enough to be a great aunt!

Aunt Molly introducing Julian to his first ever turtle friend, Yertle the Turtle.

Speaking of firsts, they were dog sitting for some family members so we got to meet little Remmy. Isn't he the cutest? This was the boys' first REAL meeting with a puppy. Poor little Remmy was scared of the dudes LOL.

Love this lamp. That is all.

Pretty snowflake on the tree.

How great is this picture?? EVERYONE is looking and smiling. Um, and how HUGE is Alex? He's a freshman, people. Giant cousin.

Ugh I had such a great time I miss them all so much!

no place like home

Greetings from FREEZING cold Iowa! You know, even though I've lived here my whole life, you forget very quickly what that cold actually feels like until you are in it again. It took me a couple days to adjust but now I feel right at home again.

The dudes have adjusted to the 2 hr time difference, all the new people and the new surroundings WONDERFULLY. Oh my gosh, I was so nervous thinking this would just be a constant struggle. Babies not tired when they need to be, not sleeping, scared of all the new people. We had a few tears and scared moments the first few hours but after a day of seeing everyone and getting the sleep we needed, it has been a breeze.

Here are a few shots from our last few days:

A sleepy baby J on his first flight on his first Christmas :) The boys did well. Restless and squirmy and only slept for about 30 minutes from home at 3am to Iowa at 12:30pm...but really did great. We were NOT the screaming babies on the plane. That was a relief.

Sleepy Julian with Grandma Barb at the airport.

Isaiah finally sleeping.

Julian checking out the lights with Papa.

Chikezie remembering what it's like to not just get in your car and go.....scraping off cars and heating them up is time consuming!

The boys playing in their favorite spot at Grandma's house, in front of the mirrors LOL!

Mama SO excited to have some caffeine!  MMM warm Starbucks tastes a little bit better when it's cold outside.

Isaiah enthralled by daddy's mouth.

Sunday night Chikezie's parents threw a big Thanksgiving/Christmas party/feast with lots of friends and family. We had the best time...and so did this beautiful dancing grandma.

Isaiah (Mama's boy) all partied out.

Papa and Grandma dancing!

We woke up on Monday morning to this beautiful dusting of snow. Ahh it's good to be home.

Merry Christmas!

I have a lot to get accomplished today so we're not worrying about anything at 3am tomorrow morning when we head to the airport. I've never been to LAX but have been thoroughly researching the airport, parking, TSA guidelines on traveling with infants, etc. I'm not a control freak, just want to be informed and have a plan so that early tomorrow morning when I'm tired and just want to be in Iowa already, I don't have to worry about all the trivial little things.

I'm determined to not be stressed or worried on Christmas day.

My husband, on the other hand, is the exact opposite and spent his evening playing Call of Duty last night as I busily got things in order, did laundry, cleaned, (I like a clean house when I leave so it's clean when I get back and I can just relax), started putting things in zip-lock baggies, etc. And then when I laid down to finally sleep (at 12:30) my mind was racing going through possible ways to get 2 babies, 2 carry ons, 2 back packs and a giant seat on the shuttle to the airport and in the door.

Anyways. Enough talk...more action! Time to get busy. I have my Redbull in hand and I'm armed for a busy bee kind of day. Which may or may not include making some chocolate chip cookies and pretty much eating just that all day.

I can't tell you when I'll be back. Maybe Monday, hopefully some day next week. With some pictures of our holidays in the SNOW and COLD at home. Somewhere I've wanted to go for over a year. And word on the street is that it will be a white Christmas for us and our little Christmas angels.

I decided not to use our other santa photos for our holiday card this year. Mainly because you can't see the dudes' beautiful curly locks. And I love me some cute baby 'fro.

I wish you all absolute joy, peace and LOVE this Christmas. I've grown to love so many of you this year and made some friends in what I've found to be my own little place in this blogging community. I can't wait to watch all of your adventures over the next year and hope you'll stick around to see what 2011 has in store for us :)

Have a very, VERY Merry Christmas, lovelies.

cuteness overload (video)

Ok I know I just posted a video yesterday but this one is too cute not to share.

We were playing peek-a-boo yesterday and Isaiah discovered that he could just look under the pillow I was holding in front of me. Then Julian got in on it and they're so cute when they dip down to look under something. Our internet box is behind/under the couch and we often find Isaiah with his face down near the floor looking at the blinking light under the couch.

Last night when I got back from a much needed yoga class, we decided to play peek-a-boo again. But this time Isaiah really was looking for mama!

LOL we couldn't stop laughing at him turning his head sideways like he really was looking for me somewhere underneath something else. I could just hear him saying, " I don't know! Where IS mama?"

My smart boys (video)

Just a little playing action on a typical afternoon at our house :)

Sorry this video is really long. I didn't feel like editing anything.

The boys are really starting to get quite different personalities. Julian is so smart and stubborn. Isaiah is impatient and an observer. I love them SO much!

Things you should know...

Little Miss Momma is hosting a link up of something fun this week....and I want to play!

Here are some things you should know about me if we're going to be BFF's:

I need caffeine in the morning. I don't care how or where from. Inject it into my veins for all I care but I better have some or I'm going to be cranky.

I'm really good at coming up with ideas. I have a very creative mind. However implementation of those ideas is beyond me.

I suck at math. And I don't try or care to get it. The boys will have to go to Daddy for math help someday.

I've been playing piano since I was in 2nd grade. I'm not the best at sight reading or reading through music perfectly...I enjoy music much more when I can do improv and just play what I'm feeling at the moment.
Awkwardly posing at my Grandma's grand piano in my prom dress. I've also played flute, french horn, mellophone, trumpet and the VIBES.

Seafood of all kinds makes me gag. Literally. Chikezie can't cook salmon in here or I gag.  I honestly don't know how people can eat something that smells SO bad.

I met Chikezie in a bar (he was the door guy) and I was drunk (and not 21). How romantical.

I miss laying in the grass of the Penticrest on warm spring days in Iowa City. I'd study and people watch for hours.

People who cut me off when I'm walking with a stroller piss me off. When I have to stand there and they slowly walk by me with no regard for the fact that I'm WAITING for them...grrr.

I love wearing heels. Only because it turns my 5'9" into like 6'0. I secretly wish I was an inch or two taller.

I think fad diets are ridiculous and horrible for you. I've been hearing a lot of people talk about the HCG Diet and I think it's so stupid and unhealthy. Isn't the point of losing weight to get healthy? Yes, you lose weight that way but you're not building any muscle or developing or learning any healthy habits that you can continue after weight loss.

I'm very allergic to mushrooms. But didn't have this allergy until I started college. And if I'm not careful, I end up in the ER:
Looking good.

I HATE, hate, HATE when people don't use their blinkers. And then I sit at the intersection waiting to turn and the person coming is going to turn but doesn't turn on their blinker so I wait forever until they finally turn, and I realize I could have gone that whole time if they would have used their freaking blinker! AHHH!!!!

I like wearing slippers in the winter and I don't care if they make me look like a grandma.

I love rain. And snow. And storms. I want to live somewhere that these things happen often.

I love me a good tractor pull.

I don't have a lot of close girl friends. I guess I've always related better with guys? I also hate drama...and girls seem to be good at that.

I don't think I'm really good at anything. I'm pretty good at a lot of things. But unlike my husband who is  a web design stud, I don't have that one thing that defines me.

I want to make a real business out of making things, I want to be a photographer, I want to be a personal trainer who specializes in pre and post-natal health and weight loss, I want to coach volleyball again.

I grew up on a farm in Iowa. I played in the dirty barn, I helped my grandpa find tools when he was restoring old John Deere tractors, I begged my dad to let me carry feed buckets, I caught frogs and caterpillars, rode my bike for miles on gravel road and thoroughly enjoyed time with my BFF:

I married my first and only love.

I've climbed a 14,000 foot mountain. By the time I got to the top, I hated mountains and wanted down immediately.

I LOVE N'Sync Christmas music. In 8th grade, my friend Amanda taped their Disney Christmas special and we watched it over and over and over. Chris and I have the same birthday. And I was kind of sad when I found out Lance was gay because he always was my favorite.

I can not handle spicy food. Even mild salsa has a little kick to me LOL. Which sucks because Chikezie loves spicy stuff. (He did the Buffalo Wild Wings Blazin' Challenge a few weeks ago! You have to eat 12 of their hottest wings in 6 minutes.)

A lot of people don't know this but I was adopted by my dad. My mom had me in college and didn't stay with my biological father (who I don't know nor have I ever known). She met my dad when I was 2 and they married when I was 3.
The day he was officially "daddy". Nice face.

I'm the 2002 Monona County Fair Queen. I entered the contest because my mom's friend said they needed more people (there were like 8 or 9 entrants). I wasn't trying to win, just participating because I was told to LOL. I think there were a couple girls mad that I won actually. Sorry!

In college and afterward I had 2 kitties I had to get rid of before I moved because we couldn't make the move cross country together. I miss them but glad I don't have to take care of 2 more animals right now...
Marley (a.k.a. Fat Cat) named after Bob Marley, and way before Marley and Me came out and everyone named their animals and kids Marley. And Pocket, named for obvious reasons.

sleep and simple things

We've been working on sleeping longer though the night here at the E household. To say it's been easy would be a huge fat stinky lie. The boys are waking up at night (each once) and we've been feeding them a bottle and they usually go back to sleep quickly. But it's getting to the point where they're big enough to where they don't need 9oz in the middle of the night. They CAN sleep through the night, I've seen it happen. They are just waking up to wake up now. So I've started giving less formula in an effort to slowly get out of this cycle. I need sleep. I SERIOUSLY need sleep. 9 months of waking up multiple times every night and I'm done.

Isaiah clearly ready for nap time.

Touch Up Tuesday's at the Paper Mama

My favorite Christmas ornament. One of Chikezie's best friends, Martin, gave this to us last year in our Christmas card.  He is an awesome artist and I just love this. It's metal and shiny and the angel design is so cool.  These little things are what make the holiday season. This is something we'll have on our tree for years to come.

Oh, and that frame? Goodwill. Like $2. It was some weird silvery/gold color but I spray painted it black and I think it turned out pretty well. I have a bunch of other cool frames that I'm going to paint black as well. Let's put that on the New Year's to-do list.
Sweet Shot Day ShutterLoveTuesdays

I've been working on lots of small gifts these past few days because it's been so rainy out. I can't make anything too big because it all has to fit in my suitcase for the trip home. I think these things are perfect though:
pretty flower brooch

holiday headband

Flower magnet set. Chikezie stole one for work but I'm making more :)

Oh and I've been starting to pack things and realized I might need a little more room than I thought. We're only checking one big suitcase. Chikezie will fit most of his stuff in a carry-on and I'm thinking about fitting some of the boys' clothes in a carry-on as well...isn't this suitcase the CUTEST?
Goodwill, $5. Great shape. It's pretty small, I'm thinking it will fit as a carry-on and I can use a backpack for a purse for little things we'll need in-flight. Chikezie gets mad at me for bringing home old suitcases I find thrifting but this is going to get some use :) This little suitcase makes me happy!
